Reading the news isn't enough; these stories need to be told by individuals, and through blogs and other Internet miracles it is possible to keep the human face visible, and those in crisis in our thoughts.
Oh my gosh. I have FOUR friends, along with all their families (immediate and extended), that live there. I've been able to track them all down. And everyone is safe adn well. Its so worrisome though. Conditions have been so perfect for fires. Scary scary.

Wow. That's just terrifying. And it brings back some horrible memories... The death toll is frighteningly high, too.
